Gospel lovers from all parts of the country are expected to flock to Kings Park Athletics Stadium in Durban for the prestigious 5th Asingene Siphila Gospel Music Festival on Monday.

Durban is known for attracting of visitors from all over the country and abroad and the majority of them are expected to stay until early next year.

Organiser Ningi Mgobhozi says the festival will take place on December 31, from 5pm on Monday until 6pm on Tuesday morning. It can be attended for donation of a mere R40 per person.

"The objective of the show is to provide pure entertainment and to promote good behaviour during the festive season," Mgobhozi says,

"The show appeals mostly toe Christians and gospel music lovers and the people who would like to enjoy themselves in a safe and sober environment."

The theme of the show is Asingene Siphila (Let's be sober) when we bid goodbye to the olf year and start the new.

Since its inception the festival as annually attracted about 10000 people attracted more than 10 000 people and the same number is expected this year.

With MEC for community safety and liaison Bheki Cele having given Durban and the rest of KwaZulu-Natal the thumbs for mot reporting a single crime in areas close to beaches, visitors can expect nothing less than a fun-filled night.

Artists include Deborah Fraser, Avante, Sfiso, U-turn, Lundi, Veliswa, Ithemba Lamakhatholika, Singing For Joy and many others who have made names for themselves in entertainment.
