That was the year that was.

It is common practice for the media the world over to always take a look back at a year that's coming to an end and revisit the highlights as well as the lows.

There is also a peep at what the next year holds.

It is no different with the African Soccer Television show which last week and in coming weeks will be looking at some moments in the continent's leagues and the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.

The action will be on SABC Sport's Laduma programme on Sundays at 2.30pm.

Highlights reflected were of great moments in African football such as the Under-17 African Championship held in Togo, won by Nigeria, Spanish giants Barcelona's visit to Africa, playing first Egyptian side Al Ahly and local defending league champions Sundowns, and Etoile du Sahel's exploits in conquering North Africa.

Who can ever forget Ivory Coast and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba's goals which led to his winning the CAF player of the year award?

The next four episodes of the ASTV show will concentrate on the groups at the 2008 Afcon and the region they will be playing in.

The episodes will look at the stadiums and areas where they'll be based and playing.

Group A comprises Ghana, Guinea, Morocco and Namibia and will be based in Accra.

The second episode is of Group B, made up of Benin, Ivory Coast, Mali and Nigeria and they will be based at Sekondi.

Third is Group C with Cameroon, Egypt, Sudan and Zambia who will be based at Kumasi. The last episode will be of Group D that consists of Angola, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia and they will be based at Tamale.
