No doubt this isn't really a vote for Jacob Zuma; rather a vote of no confidence in President Thabo Mbeki. His legacy is that he has done nothing for the people of South Africa.

No doubt this isn't really a vote for Jacob Zuma; rather a vote of no confidence in President Thabo Mbeki. His legacy is that he has done nothing for the people of South Africa.

In 1948 Jan Smuts lost the election because the people believed he had a great love for the opinion-makers outside the borders of South Africa - that is, he had no concern at all for the electorate.

Modern-day South Africa was initially impressed with Mbeki finding favour with leadership in the world, but has now realised that he is completely indifferent to the pathetic performance of certain members of his Cabinet; and couldn't care two hoots that the situation is becoming disastrous.

Yet, if he decides to reshuffle the Cabinet, does he have anybody among his cronies whom he could stick into those spots?
