The two gentlemen at loggerheads over the presidency have in the past few weeks displayed such high levels of immaturity that one wonders where the country is headed.

I don't for a moment believe that leadership within the ANC is confined to Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma.

Mbeki has done well as the country's leader but the same cannot be said about his leadership of the ANC, hence I feel stepping aside would be the most honourable thing for him to do.

Zuma is most certainly not the choice candidate either. South Africa does not need to be reminded of his record. He is a yes-man who will most certainly be at the mercy of pals who seehim as a meal ticket.

He's a cunning individual who says all the things people want to hear. For example, he recently started pushing for the death penalty. We all know what the ANC's policy is regarding that.

Mbeki is not a saint either.

The innuendo and sarcasm these two have levelled at each other is so despicable that neither of them deserves to be a leader. The party should elect leaders who do not put their interests ahead of their constituencies.

If the norm continues the ANC might turn South Africa into another African country awash with corruption.
