Police are looking for gang member and alleged car hijacker Ntutuko Ndlela who escaped from Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital last Thursday.
Ndlela, in his 20s, escaped from the hospital where he was placed under police guard.
Before escaping, Ndlela removed the bandage from the wound on his right eye and got away with chains still tied to his legs.
He was earlier arrested for allegedly attacking a man and attempting to hijack his Toyota Tazz. Ndlela had also attempted to rob a house near the place where he and his three associates tried to hijack the car.
Ndlela was arrested by police last Monday.
