An Mpumalanga tycoon who is out on R4000 bail for allegedly shooting his wife seven times before leaving her for dead, might return to prison after his wife complained that he was violating his bail conditions - again.
Solly Madileng, 48, of Marapyane village in the KwaMhlanga area of Mpumalanga, is accused by his 38-year-old wife, Maki, of threatening her and she appealed to the court on Wednesday to cancel his bail because he was a threat to her and the children.
Madileng allegedly sprayed Maki with a hail of bullets after she tried to end their 10-year marriage.
Their marriage was reported to have been on the rocks for some time and this prompted her to leave their home to stay with her parents.
Madileng later went to fetch her, with the intention of mending the troubled marriage, but when Maki stood firm, Madileng allegedly shot her repeatedly.
After shooting her, he allegedly threw her out of the car and left her lying unconscious on the side of the road.
She was found by cattle herders the next morning.
At the time, Madileng was on R5000 bail for a different case.
He was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and beating his former employee, Ephraim Makitla of Seabe village, also in Mpumalanga.
This was after Madileng's supermarket was broken into.
He laid charges against Makitla, but the case was withdrawn because of insufficient evidence.
Madileng allegedly kidnapped Makitla and assaulted him.
Makitla later laid a charge of assault and kidnapping against his boss.
Madileng was arrested and granted R5000 bail.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions is investigating how he was granted bail despite violating his bail conditions in a separate case, and is expected to make a decision today.
