Major David Bright, one of Botswana's most successful soccer coaches, is ready to impart his expertise in neighbouring South Africa.
This was after Bright was head-hunted and interviewed by Goolam Allie, chairman of Premiership side Santos in Cape Town last week.
There has been ongoing speculation that current Santos coach, Mauritian Jean-Marc Ithier, will be redeployed in the new year to make way for the knowledgeable Bright.
Santos have not been doing well since Ithier was appointed coach after the return of Roger de Sa to Bidvest Wits at the beginning of the season.
"I have achieved almost everything here in Botswana and I believe this is a perfect time to make a move to prove myself elsewhere," said Bright.
The coach, who learnt some of his craft under Brazilian soccer coaches in Rio de Janeiro, has reportedly been offered the job but will only start in January.
But he denied it, saying: "I don't know anything about the job offer. It is true that we had a lengthy discussion with Mr Allie but I am waiting for them to get back to me.
"I also want to grow as a coach, especially with the international coaching experience I learnt when I was with the Botswana senior team and the Under-23s.
"The 2010 World Cup is coming to South Africa. One of the things that we need to do as southern African countries is to ensure that our football also improves.
"National teams and clubs in western Africa have been beating us left, right and centre. We need to start sharing information on how to beat them.
"There is a successful professional soccer league in South Africa.
"I have no doubt that Botswana will also benefit a lot from having more people working here."
