A sod-turning ceremony marking the construction of a multipurpose sports facility was held in Luka Village outside Rustenburg yesterday.

A sod-turning ceremony marking the construction of a multipurpose sports facility was held in Luka Village outside Rustenburg yesterday.

The facility, sponsored by Impala Platinum, will cost about R400 000 and will be completed by March.

It includes facilities for nine sporting codes including rugby, basketball and soccer.

"This facility is important in encouraging and nurturing the abilities of the young people in the Luka community," George Khunou, the managing director of Royal Bafokeng Sports Holdings, said. - Linda Moreotsene
