A 23-year-old man was arrested in Mpumalanga after a motorist was stabbed and robbed of cash at the Nelspruit bus terminal.
Police said the motorist was sitting in his car when two men opened the door and tried to pull him out of the vehicle at about 11am on Wednesday.
"A squabble ensued after the robbers tried to pull the man out of his vehicle and stabbed him several times," said Mpumalanga police spokesman Superintendent Abie Khoabane yesterday..
"Some of the car windows were smashed during the scuffle causing about R5000 worth of damage."
The suspects robbed the victim of about R300 in cash before fleeing on foot, but police managed to track down one of them.
"The arrested suspect was found in possession of a knife believed to have been used in the attack as well as all the money suspected to have been stolen from the victim," said Khoabane.
The suspect will appear in the Nelspruit magistrate's court today on charges of armed robbery, assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.
Meanwhile, a security guard, Andries Ngobeni, was patrolling at Sea World in Rocks Drift near White River when two armed robbers confronted him on Wednesday morning at about 12.30am.
The robbers demanded keys to the safe but the guard did not have them.
They then took him to his change room where they used his own shoe laces to tie his wrists.
They robbed him of R800 in cash before fleeing.
In another incident, a man tried to rob a couple having lunch on the veranda of the Cuckoo Lodge in Hazyview on Tuesday afternoon.
The 60-year-old man, identified only as Stuart, was with his wife when she suddenly asked someone standing in front of them if he wanted any help.
"The answer from the stranger was to produce a firearm and point it at the couple," said Khoabane.
"But Stuart set his dog on the suspect who fired shots at him but missed while running away."
No arrests have been made in either incident.
