The disappearance of 58-year-old Elias Sethathi, of Maboloka in North West, at Brits hospital two weeks ago has left his family distressed.

According to his wife, Victoria, Sethathi was admitted on November 25 with heart and liver complications but he was nowhere to be found when her daughter paid him a visit on November 28.

Victoria, 55, told Sowetan that her husband's colleague visited him on the morning of the same day and found him.

Strangely he was not at the hospital when his daughter came to see him that afternoon.

"This was brought to the attention of the nursing sister in charge and a search was conducted within the hospital premises with no luck," she said.

The following day Sethathi's son and other family members went to the hospital to check if Sethathi had been located but they were allegedly told to conduct the search themselves.

They did search but in vain, so they reported Sethathi's disappearance at Brits police station.

North West department of health spokesman, Nthabiseng Makhongoana, confirmed that Sethathi was admitted at the hospital but she could not comment as the incident was still investigating.
