Continuity plays a major role in any sport and it will be ideal if the South African Rugby Union (Saru) could consider Allister Coetzee as Jake White's successor as Springbok coach.
This emerged at the launch of White's book In Black and White at the Jeppe Boys High School in Johannesburg.
Former Springbok scrumhalf Coetzee has been White's assistant for the past four years and knows the ins and outs of the team.
He was part of the team that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.
If Coetzee is appointed, chances are he will continue where White left off.
White said: "It is imperative that continuity remains in place, unlike appointing someone who has never worked with the team at all.
"If they don't appoint Coetzee as my successor, why has he been good enough to be my assistant in the first place?'' White asked.
His sentiments were echoed by Paul Treu, SA sevens squad coach, who said: "If Saru wants continuity in terms of coaching structure as well as the management, Coetzee deserves to be given an opportunity.''
But Pote Human, former Bulls Currie Cup coach, said: "I pick
Heyneke Meyer to be the next Springbok coach because he enjoys respect in the rugby fraternity.
"He has proved his ability by winning the Vodacom Super 14 title this season,'' said Human.

Some of the shortlisted candidates for the hot seat are Chester Williams, Gert Smal and Meyer.
