Kaizer Chiefs scored big yesterday after they snatched former Mamelodi Sundowns' free-scoring Jose Torrealba from the claws of Thanda Royal Zulu.
Sowetan has reliably learnt that the prolific Venezuelan c striker, who for the past nine months has been embroiled in a bitter contractual wrangle with his former club has agreed to sign with the Naturena club on a 30 months contract.
"The two parties have already agreed on the terms and conditions and the deal is in the bag.
"What is left is for the two parties to sign and seal the deal on the dotted line today," our source said last night.
The striker was snatched from under the nose of Thanda Royal Zulu who on Monday expressed an interest to sign the player. Chiefs on the other hand had on the same day said that while they would have wanted the player on their books, they (Chiefs) would rather wait for the final resolution of the dispute with Sundowns.
Meanwhile, despite winning the lucrative Telkom Knockout title, Kaizer Chiefs are yet to impress in the Absa Premiership under coach Muhsin Ertugral this season. writes Meshack Motloung
After the final, Amakhosi seemed to have gone to sleep, drawing two consecutive league games against AmaZulu (1-1) and Santos (0-0).
