No ruling party is immune from attracting careerists worldwide - the ANC included - said ANC secretary-general Kgalema Motlanthe yesterday.

No ruling party is immune from attracting careerists worldwide - the ANC included - said ANC secretary-general Kgalema Motlanthe yesterday.

He was speaking on Talk Radio 702.

"The challenge is to educate people about the ideals of the party, but these tendencies will always come up," Motlanthe said.

He was responding to a question about cabinet ministers visiting branches and offering money in an attempt to have President Thabo Mbeki elected as party president for the third time, ahead of the 52nd elective ANC conference in Limpopo.

He said cabinet ministers who were alleged to have visited branches for reasons unknown to the ANC, had no right to do so and should be deal with in Parliament.

"Accountability organs within parliament will deal with the accusations." - Sapa
