ANC does not want Mbeki

I have been watching the unfolding of events as the country heads for the 52nd ANC conference in Polokwane.

I have been watching the unfolding of events as the country heads for the 52nd ANC conference in Polokwane.

What must be made clear is that we, the members of the ANC, do not want Thabo Mbeki to come back.

He has done much, but it all amounts to nothing for the poor. Mbeki and a couple of women using him, are trying to set him up as the only viable leader of the ANC.

How interesting?

They are going to be surprised in Polokwane when we introduce yet another, even more reliable leader. The ANC has never run out of intelligence, if you understand the meaning of that term.

Jacob Zuma has proven in many ways, at least to us members of the ANC, that he has got what it takes to be a leader. Put yourself in the shoes of Mbeki's supporters then you'll understand their concerns. Only those who want to serve the public will feature in Zuma's cabinet.

Zuma is no factionalist; just look at how excellently he handled Terror Lekota's insults. Not even once did Zuma entertain them.

People can say anything they wish about Zuma, but the bottom line is that we have chosen our leader and expect no surprises. We chose Mbeki before and now we want somebody else.

Senzo Ngcobo,

Soweto
