Soccer news in brief from around the world:

l Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic does not think Italian coach Fabio Capello would be suited to the vacant post of England manager.

"For me, he is not a national team coach," Mijatovic told La Gazzetta dello Sport when asked about the man Real sacked in June.

"He needs daily battles, weekly ones at least. Maybe he'll do really well but his ideal habitat is at a club."

Mijatovic reiterated that the Spanish champions were not planning to buy or sell players in the January transfer market.

He also said the best value-for-money buy Real Madrid have made over the past 18 months was Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United.

l Striker Rolando Bianchi is the player Manchester City want to offer Inter Milan in exchange for Adriano, Italian media reported.

Manchester City chairman Thaksin Shinawatra said on Friday that the Premier League side were looking to do a swap deal for the Brazilian forward, who is at a training camp in his homeland to regain mental and physical fitness after suffering poor form.

Bianchi has failed to establish himself in the Manchester City starting lineup since joining the club from Reggina in July.

l Sevilla captain Javi Navarro faces a lay-off of between three and four months after agreeing to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

The club said that medical staff decided surgery was necessary after conservative treatment had failed to bring about the desired improvement on an injury that has kept the Spanish international centre-back on the sidelines since the start of the season.

l Atletico Madrid's Argentine striker Sergio Aguero has been awarded the "golden boy" prize for the best Under-21 player in Europe by Italian sports magazine Tuttosport.

The 19-year-old, who led Argentina to victory in the Under-20 World Cup in Canada this year and has been in scintillating form for Atletico this season, follows in the footsteps of Cesc Fabregas, Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney as the winner of the award.

l Primera Liga side Villarreal have agreed to sponsor nine local athletes who are hoping to go to the Beijing Olympics.

Each athlete will receive an initial sum of ß6000, which will be doubled if they end up qualifying for next year's Olympics or Paralympics. The club has also agreed to put its own facilities and services at the disposal of the athletes. - Reuters
