The Oasis of Life Family Church in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, was on Saturday night a hive of activity when hundreds of gospel fans descended on the venue to be entertained by several gospel artists including the world-renowned Pastor Donnie McClurkin from the US.

The event, the Glory Concert, which is held annually, was hosted by Apostle Isaac Sithole and his pastor wife Sibongile Sithole.

Others on the exciting programme included local Gospel diva Rebecca Malope; the Twins with Vision, Bandile Mazibuko and his twin Sandile; Ntokozo Mbambo and Cape Town-based recording gospel singer Wilmont Fredericks.

Though Rebecca nearly brought the roof down with her famous rendition of songs such as Somlandela uJesu, Umoya wam and What A mighty God We Serve, it was McClurkin who hogged the limelight at the tail-end of the concert.

He doubled as master of ceremonies and entertainer, and it was evident that the lanky American has mastered his trade.

In his opening remarks he said: "Everything you see on this stage tonight will be to the glory of God and nothing else."

McClurkin, who nearly did not make it to the memorable concert because of a brief sickness, told the responsive audience that being in the gospel ministry did not spare one from attacks of illness.
