Lamontville Golden Arrows took advantage of home ground advantage to beat Jomo Cosmos 2-0 in their Absa Premiership fixture at King Zwelithini stadium on Saturday.

Goals by Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Kagisho Dikgacoi were good enough to push Ezenkosi further down the log.

And had it not been for daring saves by goalkeeper Avril Phali, Cosmos would have been further embarrassed by Abafana Bes'thende.

In the first 20 minutes of the match, Phali was called on to make fine back-to-back saves. First at his far post in the third minute from an Arrows corner, before producing a reaction block from Philani Shange's deflected effort.

Cosmos' first clear-cut opportunity fell to Gerald Mtshali who ballooned his shot from in the box after connecting well with a pass from Anthony Laffour. Then seven minutes later, workaholic Dikgang Mabalane shot wide inside the 18-yard area with goalkeeper Miphy Lupini at his mercy.

In the second half, Arrows came back strongly, piling on the pressure, and it was not surprising when Vilakazi broke the deadlock with a cool finish.

Arrows continued putting Cosmos under sever pressure. With barely 15 minutes of play left Dikgacoi fired into the top corner of Cosmos' goal, with the help of a deflection, for a deserved 2-0 win.
