The South African Rugby Union is awaiting a report from the International Rugby Board after Jonathan Mokuena's six-week suspension in Dubai at the weekend, before they make a statement.

This was said by Johan Prinsloo, Saru's chief executive, in a telephone interview with Sowetan yesterday.

Former Springbok sevens captain Mokuena was suspended until January 12 after shoving the referee during the Sevens World Series semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand in Dubai last Saturday.

Prinsloo said he could not comment about the incident because he was out of the country attending a meeting in London.

"Saru is waiting for a comprehensive report from the IRB disciplinary committee before they can issue a statement regarding the incident," said Prinsloo.

"However, the code of conduct is very clear; no one must take the law into his own hands,''

The embarrassing incident was shown on TV.
