Consumer confidence has surprisingly rebounded to close to its previous record, according to the latest consumer confidence index of First National Bank and Stellen-bosch University's Bureau for Economic Research released yesterday.

Consumer confidence has surprisingly rebounded to close to its previous record, according to the latest consumer confidence index of First National Bank and Stellen-bosch University's Bureau for Economic Research released yesterday.

Consumer confidence increased by four index points - from +18 during the third quarter of 2007 to +22 during 2007's fourth quarter.

The consumer confidence index is now just below the all-time high of +23, which was reached during the first quarter of 2007. - Staff Reporter
