Though not a resident of South Africa's capital, Tsotsi lead actor Presley Chweneyagae was among recipients of the inaugural City of Tshwane Citizens Excellence Awards in Pretoria at the weekend.
The 23-year-old resident of Mafikeng, North West, was recognised in the category of the arts. An Oscar award-winner himself, Chweneyagae said being honoured among the city's achievers meant that he was now the adopted son of Pretoria.
Hosted by mayor Gwen Ramokgopa, the gala event was held at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Brummeria.

The late Elizabeth Matsemela was honoured posthumously in the category of champion of women's rights and Molebogeng Dube in the business legend/women in business category.
In her keynote address, Ramokgopa said excellence was not an accidental occurrence but had to be earned.
