A Meyerton, Vaal, man is desperately trying to locate relatives of his live-in girlfriend who died last week.

Yesterday Abram Suping, 42, approached Sowetan's Vereeniging office with the identity document of Doreen Damons, 41, and said he urgently needed help in finding her family. Suping said he had lived with Damons for two years at a smallholding in Meyerton, in the Vaal, before she died on Monday last week.

He said Damons only told him that she came from Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape and had left home in 1998 , but had never set foot there again.

Suping said: "I tried tracing some of her rela- tives in Gauteng without success. I do not know which part of Graaff-Reinet she comes from. In the two years that we lived together, she never visited her family," Suping said.

He said Damons was a sickly person who was in and out of hospital due to respiratory and chest-related illnesses.

Suping said Damons never worked and they only survived on the little he obtained from his gardening work in the area.

"On November 26 I went to work and left her in bed. At about noon I phoned, but she did not answer. When I returned home later, I found her dead on the couch," said Suping.
