The suspension of government officials on allegations that they had committed crimes while on duty should be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

Reports that there are officials in Limpopo who earn salaries while sitting at home awaiting their fate for lengthy periods are cause for great concern.

Ten senior government officials were suspended - with full pay - in February and March this year on charges including fraud and corruption. Their cases have still not been finalised.

This is unacceptable.

Limpopo Premier Sello Moloto has rightfully slammed the delays which cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of rands each month.
