ANCWL displayed division

After reading your article: "On receiving end, top Mbeki ANCWL supporters no match for Zuma" on Tuesday, I couldn't believe the sentiments expressed by the president of the league, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

After reading your article: "On receiving end, top Mbeki ANCWL supporters no match for Zuma" on Tuesday, I couldn't believe the sentiments expressed by the president of the league, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

As a senior member of our organisation, Mapisa-Nqakula should know that decisions of the collective (NEC) are binding. She should also know that democratic decisions supersede her opinion, even if she didn't want the league to nominate Jacob Zuma. I expected her to respect the decision of our organisation, just as I expect all members to.

Instead, she decided to "note" the results instead of accepting them. Then she went on to say "they" instead of "we" when giving the results.

I think it is both contradictory and laughable of the league or its president to continue wanting a woman president or deputy president because they have resolved that Zuma and Kgalema Motlanthe should fill those positions.

Mapisa-Nqakula and all the other league members who are bitter about the results must start lobbying comrades to support this legitimate position taken by the ANCWL.

It seems that the ANC conference in Limpopo later this month will say what we in the ANCYL have always said - that Jacob Zuma should be elected the president of the ANC.
