It was a proud moment yesterday when 15 students of the Oasis of Life Family Church Bible College graduated.

Pastor Sibongile Sithole, who presided over the ceremony, described the event as the culmination of a prophesy of Apostle Isaac Sithole.

Speaking at the celebrations at the church in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, Sithole said when her husband and president of the church founded the Bible college in 1998, his vision was scoffed at and criticised, even by his own congregants.

Sithole said the purpose of the church was to break bread with others and to worship God.

"Some things work well when you have a knowledge of the truth."

Six of the proud students - Lucky Kubeka, Yvonne Mhlanga, Queen Maseko, Lindiwe Mthethwa, Vusi Mxusile and Phindile Zwane - obtained degrees in theology.

Paying tribute to Apostle Isaac, Sithole and the new graduates, businessman and motivational speaker Abner Mariri said: "We've come here to pay homage to a job well done."

Directing his speech at the successful graduates, Mariri challenged them to choose between two roads - one leading to mediocrity and the other to greatness.

"You do not need to compete with somebody else. Guard against jealousy because it can be a lonely road.

"We must trust God even if it doesn't make sense. There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time come," Mariri said to a standing ovation.

He added: "For you to be powerful you need to acquire knowledge. There's nothing more ignorant than a person who is ignorant of his ignorance."
