The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) in the Nkomazi area of Mpumalanga is investigating charges of unfair labour practice against a school principal.

There are claims that the headmaster of Chief Makunyula Primary School in Block B, outside Komatipoort, denied his four support staff a chance to take part in Nehawu's end of the year function.

The function, held at Mzinti on Friday, aimed at discussing issues related to unfair labour practice, workers' rights, contract agreements, automatic dismissals and other labour matters.

Officials from unions including Denosa and Sadtu were present. Nehawu's chairman, Simon Khoza, confirmed that they were probing a case of unfair labour practice against the school principal, Petros Mabona.
