Premiership and First Division scouts will scramble for talent at the South African Student Sports Union (Sassu) National Club Championships, that start on Monday.
The week-long tournament will be played at the University of Johannesburg (formerly Wits Technikon) in Auckland Park.
It ends on Thursday.
Raxmax Mashigo, Sassu football chairman, said they were expecting a total of 32 clubs from various tertiary institutions to participate.
There will be 16 men's and 16 women's clubs.
"The National Club Championships is one of the biggest events on the calender of South African soccer," said Mashigo yesterday.
"We are always inundated with telephone calls from talent scouts from some of the Premiership and First Division clubs wanting to attend.
"For us it is good to have some of the top coaches in attendance because it will serve as motivation to the participating youngsters.
"We are delighted with having tournaments like this one where some of the best players in the world have featured.
"In addition, Sassu has produced some of the best administrators who are serving in Premiership clubs and other important soccer structures."
Mashigo, who is also a member of the Safa youth affairs and competitions committees, said participating teams will arrive in Johannesburg on Sunday where there will also be a managers' meeting.
On Thursday, there will also be an annual general meeting where a new Sassu soccer leadership will be elected.
All eyes will be on the position of chairman where top women's soccer coach Jerry Laka is challenging Mashigo.
