The taxi driver who allegedly jumped to safety when the brakes of his minibus failed, resulting in the immediate death of two passengers, will appear in the Wynberg magistrate's court today.

Richard Ngobeni, 29, of Alexandra, faces three counts of culpable homicide following the July 6 accident on London Road in Alexandra.

The case had been postponed on September 27 pending the results of the postmortems.

The police said when Ngobeni jumped out, the taxi crashed into a wall, killing the two passengers. A third passenger died at Edenvale Hospital a week later.
