Zuma takes NDPP head-on

ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma yesterday applied to the Constitutional Court for permission to challenge aspects of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) investigation against him.

ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma yesterday applied to the Constitutional Court for permission to challenge aspects of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) investigation against him.

With two weeks to go until the ANC conference in Limpopo, at which he may be elected president of the party, Zuma plans to challenge the issuing of a letter of request secured by the NDPP to get documents related to the investigation released from Mauritius.

Papers lodged at the court argued that the probe infringed on his right to dignity and right to a fair trial.

The NDPP deadline to say if it intends opposing the application is December 20, when the conference will be in its final hours. - Sapa
