Musicians who have charmed listeners of Xitsonga radio station Munghana Lonene have a chance of walking away with fantastic prizes tomorrow.

An awards ceremony will be held at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg. It is the first time that the awards will take place in Gauteng. Previously, the awards were handed out in Limpopo.

Tomorrow's ceremony, that will start at 7pm, is expected to attract the cream of the entertainment industry.

Known as the Khindlimukani Vatsonga Xitsonga Music Awards, they are now in their fifth year. The awards were started to promote the heritage and culture of the Vatsonga and the Machangana through music.

The awards recognise and reward a year of musical excellence and commitment by Xitsonga music artists.

The station plays a vital role in providing Xitsonga artists with a platform to showcase their talents while preserving culture and tradition, the station says.

Munghana Lonene FM has more than 1,2million listeners across Limpopo, Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga.

When the station was first established, it was a strictly regional station for its Vatsonga and Machangana audiences.

But over time, Munghana Lonene FM has become a more captivating companion that educates and entertains in a contemporary way to Xitsonga-speaking and understanding audiences.
