"We are still on strike because management is not ready to grant our demands for improved welfare and general working conditions," the editor said.
He said the paper's management had even threatened to sack the entire workforce, including journalists, printers and other staff, if they did not return to work immediately.
"We are meeting this afternoon to deliberate on the action and respond to the threat of dismissal," he said.
Workers on the paper went on strike on November 6 demanding a 50percent pay rise and a staff bus, among other demands.
The Guardian, established in 1983, is regarded as the flagship of the Nigerian press. It enjoys wide readership among the elite and government officials. - Sapa-AFP
