The national under-20 team, Basetsana played to a 1-all draw with Germany in Hanover last week, raising expectations they could qualify for Beijing 2008 Olympics.

The girls arrived in the country yesterday, having participated in two international friendly matches against the Germans, and the Netherlands under-19 national team.

According to team manager Fran Hilton-Smith the Germany result was encouraging, since this team had never before faced opposition of Germany's caliber.

Banyana Banyana coach Augustine Makalakalane was part of the technical team. He said the hosts went ahead in the 44th minute of the match.

The South Africans did not repeat their winning form when they met Netherlands two days later, though, and they lost 0-2.

The technical team felt on the whole the trip was worthy, as this team will be engaged in Olympic qualifying matches early next year, starting with Mozambique at home in January.
