About 200 tour operators will attend a conference in Sandton today, as part of the 2007 Soccerex convention.
The conference, held in association with Match Event Services, the company that will coordinate the hospitality industry at the 2010 World Cup, will be attended by tour operators from all parts of the world and from South Africa.
Among topics for discussion will be the awarding of the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup tenders to travel agents suitable to Fifa.
Also at the conference, international online betting operator Betfair will showcase its anti-corruption technology. Betfair is the only betting organisation to provide Fifa and other sporting federations with information on betting trends around the world.
According to Betfair, punters around the globe have helped UK online betting companies to earn billions of rands on the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and 2010 promises to surpass 2006 to become the biggest ever betting event.
The conference takes place from 2pm to 5.30pm today.
