Defending champions Mahwelereng Spikes rounded off the first round of the Limpopo Softball Association's LimDev Super League magnificently.

They thumped pretenders to the crown Seleteng Giant Killers in Seshego on Sunday. Even the bad weather didn't deter the crowds.

Killers' loyalists were vociferous throughout the match, but it was the Snakes who emerged 4-2 victors in this action packed affair.

Vansa "VR6" Molaba and Tumelo Mphahlele regi- stered the runs for Killers in the first and second innings. But the champions retaliated in the fourth and fifth innings through runs by the burgeoning Thabo Tawane, Thabang Letsoalo, Thapelo "Mini Copper" Seshoka and Nkgodiseng Motshologane.

Both sides went into this match oozing confidence after winning their opening matches on Sunday.

Spikes hammered Moletlane Texas 12-2 and Killers spanked Mamaolo Rebels 9-1.

Snakes remain the only unbeaten team in the Super League this season and it appears that the only club that can stop them from claiming the title this season would be the Snakes themselves.

"I'm happy with the two wins today and this proved that we are capable of defending the title," said Koloi Kekana, Spikes' coach.

Sello "Zoro" Rampedi, Killers' coach, said: "We are not throwing in the towel and we will fight until the last match of the season."
