He is the next big thing

Winning the Best Breakthrough Comedy Act award in September seems to have given comedian Loyiso Gola confidence to take his art to another level.

Gola will stage his one man show Loyiso Gola for President at the Alexander Theatre in Siemens Street, Braamfontein. The show opens on Thursday and will run until Saturday.

This show had a good run at the Market Theatre in Newtown and promises to do the same in Braamfontein.

This is a political show as the title suggests, but covers a wide range of subjects, from sex to race to politics.

While he may not really be running for president of the country, his political views are worth hearing, if only for posterity.

He has been described in comedy circles as "the next big thing in South African comedy".

Gola has grown in leaps and bounds in this dog-eat-dog industry. Born in Gugulethu, Cape Town, Gola made his professional appearance on the Phat Joe Show on television and has never looked back.

Gola, a young, highly-talented comedian, certainly has a bright future ahead of him.

He has appeared in the following shows: UN Comedy Show, Blacks Only, the BIG International Comedy Festival, the Vodacom Campus Tour, Arts Alive and the Tshwane Comedy Festival among others.

This is not all. Gola is also currently starring in a new television show Dinner with the President with Pieter Dirk Uys.

The show is screened on SABC2 on Thursdays at 9.30pm.

Tickets for the show cost R100 at Computicket and R120 at the door.
