Kenyan football will receive a major boost with matches of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) set to be broadcast on television in the 2008 season, it was announced yesterday.

The KPL has signed a ground-breaking agreement with pay television broadcaster SuperSport International, providing a huge opportunity for the east African state to showcase its premier club matches across the continent.

The four-year broadcast deal with SuperSport is another step in the concerted efforts of the KPL to improve the standards of the game in Kenya.

It will also build a viable Premier League that will benefit clubs, coaches, players and referees.

The launch of this new partnership will take place early next year just before the start of the new Kenyan Premier season when further details of the new SuperSport and KPL partnership will be announced.

Meanwhile, SuperSport and SABC will cover the Fifa preliminary draw in Durban live on Sunday, starting at 4pm. - Sowetan
