The City of Polokwane in Limpopo, one of the 2010 Fifa World Cup host cities, has embarked on a branding process to position itself as an ideal world tourist destination.

This will culminate in the launching of the new logo at an event scheduled to take place at Meropa Casino and Entertainment today starting at 6pm

The logo will be used together with the one for Fifa as a 2010 composite logo for Polokwane.

It will be first the time that Polokwane municipality will have a corporate identity that can be used to market itself. The city only had a coat of arms in the past.

The branding process is a culmination of a series of consultative meetings between the municipality and various stakeholders.

Executive mayor of Polokwane Thabo Makunyane said yesterday that business, interest groups and the pubic were engaged to express their perceptions about the current state of the city.

He said a number of issues were factored in before deciding on the relevant brand for the city.
