Soccer-crazy KwaZulu-Natal supporters are eagerly anticipating an explosive match between rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday at Kings Park stadium.
And with the current state of affairs in both teams, fans are not expecting a dull match or a draw, but are predicting a feast of goals. Sowetan spoke to some soccer supporters about the match, and the general feeling is that Amakhosi will beat Bucs.
Samke Makhathini from Newlands, who sells umgxabhiso (tripe) at the taxi rank, said Chiefs would pip the Buccaneers.
"Certainly, Chiefs will win 1-0 and on top of that I will have more money as I will be selling food outside the stadium. What more can I ask for. Bartlett will surprise many of his detractors by scoring," said Makhathini.
The feeling was shared by Sandile Mbayi, who believes that the marksman would cause damage to the Buccaneers.
"He might not be scoring regularly, but his experience would come handy. He will steer Chiefs to a 2-0 victory," he said.
Zama Mngoma is in no doubt that Mushin Ertugral's boys will hammer Amabhakaniya.
"To me it doesn't matter who scores, but at the end Chiefs will win 2-0 and it would be a great win for us in KwaZulu-Natal."
But taxi driver Skho Ngcamu had a different opinion:
"Both teams play similar football and whoever will make use of their chances will win the match. But I think a draw would be good for both sides."
Vincent Zulu from Ntuzuma is certain Bucs will collect maximum points.
"Teko Modise is the man of the moment. Love him or hate him, but he is the one person who will break the hearts of Chiefs supporters," he said.
Bukhosi Zulu, a die-hard Bakhaniya, also believes his side will triumph 2-1.
"Modise and [Excellent] Walaza will do it for Pirates. I can put my head on the block, I can bet my life on them, especially Modise," he said.
A friend, Ntuthuko Mchunu said come rain or shine Amakhosi would triumph.
Mntomuhle Khawula, IFP provincial chairman, said: "Pirates are playing well and are gelling compared to Chiefs, who seem to be struggling to grasp Mushin Ertugral's ideas.
"But that does not mean we should underestimate them. The problem with a derby is that each of the teams can struggle the whole season, but come the day of the derby, they surprise you.
"But at the end I think Pirates willwin. It's high time that we teach our son a lesson or two," said Khawula.
ANC regional secretary John Mchunu said he hoped Chiefs win: "I know we [Chiefs] have a problem in scoring goals, but I hope on the day we will pull through, and if that does not happen, a draw will be fine."
