Not Mbeki nor Zuma to lead us

A compromise candidate is the answer for the ANC and for South Africa.

A compromise candidate is the answer for the ANC and for South Africa.

While the ANC has the right to elect the country's president, delegates must consider all South Africans when they choose a leader. A president goes beyond the ANC and we need a person who will serve the entire country.

Mosioua Lekota is right about tribalism. Those "100% Zulu boy" T-shirts must go, but so must the two people who sparked the debate.

Thabo Mbeki has done well so far, but he can do better elsewhere. Zuma had a fair chance to lead by example. I vehemently disagree with those who say that we need fresh minds, especially if it comes from the likes of Fikile Mbalula.

We need seasoned leaders who won't be swayed from the policies that bought us our dignity. ANC youth need to learn from their older leaders, but the elders are in turmoil. Those who want peace, progress and unity should say loudly and clearly: "We want a leader who is not flawed by scandals, or who clings to power. We need a leader who is solid, honest and wise and who will unite us and put South Africa in a better position globally."

Our current leaders are tainted with fraud, bribery, sexual harassment, abuse of power and selfishness.
