Labour department director-general Vanguard Mkosana's contract will expire on November 30, the department said yesterday.

Mkosana has been with the department since 2004. "During his tenure, Mkosana has successfully intensified the department's core objectives of job creation, poverty alleviation, employment equity and occupational health and safety," Minister Membathisi Mdladlana said.

"We regret that we could not persuade him to accept a five-year contract as against the three-year period that he insisted on when he reluctantly took up the position in 2004," Mdladlana said, adding he would host a farewell function for Mkosana on November 29. - Sapa
