DA man drunk, uses the k-word
The Democratic Party (DA) has suspended councillor Gerrie Kriek, who allegedly drove his vehicle drunk and called an officer who refused a R20 000 bribe a k***r.
DA caucus leader in Ekurhuleni Metro Council Eddie Taylor announced yesterday that a decision had been taken to suspend Kriek.
Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokesman Wilfred Kgasago told Sowetan yesterday that Kriek was involved in an accident last week in Benoni and when the officer wanted to test his alcohol level he resisted.
"He told the officer to give him his account number where he would deposit a R20 000 bribe, and when the officer refused he started swearing and made racists remarks," said Kgasago.
Kriek faces charges of crimen injuria, resisting arrest and attempting to bribe an officer.
