Zwelithini seeks help

Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has called on the provincial government, the Nhlapho Commission and the provincial house of traditional leaders to intervene in the "emotional issue" of self-appointed monarchs to their own thrones.

The call comes a day after Zwelithini visited the Nhlangwini clan at Egugwini, on the South Coast, where he called on Prince Melizwe Dlamini to apologise to him for insulting the royal family.

Prince Dlamini, who is related to Zwelithini, wants to be recognised as king, not the chief, of the Nhlangwini tribe.

Zwelithini's spokesman Prince Mbonisi Zulu has asked the KwaZulu-Natal government to intervene in the matter immediately to avoid further provocations.

Zulu said the monarch supported the objects of the commission, which is considering claims by chiefs to their own thrones.
