Setting record straight

A reader, Collins Makhubela, yesterday brought it to our attention that Mesh Motloung's article yesterday on Chiefs and Sundowns ("Pride Rules") was incorrect in stating that "the last final the two clubs met in was the Rothmans Cup final in the 1998-99 season".

Makhubela points out that the last final the two contested was in the now defunct BP Top 8. The tie went to a penalty shootout, where Charles Motlohi refused to take a kick. As Chiefs lifted the trophy, Daniel Mudau gave Motlohi a warmklap. We got our information from Mudau himself, who is now Sundowns' assistant supporters coordinator, and duly apologise for the error. - Sports Editor
