Tonight's Absa Premiership game between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns has been set up beautifully after the two teams booked a Knockout Cup final date, at the weekend.

The giants meet at Kings Park Rugby Stadium in Durban at 7.30pm in part one of an epic battle that has been the talk of the town.

This is bound to be a pulsating affair because the stakes are high. Pride, prestige and valuable points are at stake.

Amakhosi are in an unenviable position. They need the full points to move away from the 11th position they are in.

"We're not supposed to be where we are. We're looking at winning every game but the ultimate end [goal] is to win the league championship, which is a marathon," said Chiefs team manager Bobby "Bobsteak" Motaung.

Sundowns spokesman Daniel "Mambush" Mudau said they were facing one of the toughest propositions in Chiefs.

"We're not going to sit back and fold our arms, we are going to make sure that we concentrate for the entire game. We need to convert our chances if we're looking for a win," he said.

Their in-form goalkeeper, Brian "Spiderman" Baloyi, will no doubt be a stumbling block for Amakhosi.

Baloyi, who was outstanding in their Telkom Knockout semifinal game against Free State Stars on Saturday, earned himself the man of the match award for his fine performance.

Meeting Amakhosi, his former team, the Brazilians' goalkeeper will be looking forward to proving to most of Chiefs supporters that he is still among the best in the country.

Chiefs' captain Cyril "S'khokho" Nzama, Arthur "1011" Zwane, Gerald Sibeko, Thabo Mooki and Jimmy Tau should form the backbone of the Chiefs side.

The Brazilians will have Godfrey Sapula, Josta Dladla, Benson Mhlongo and Patrick Apataki who could see their side through.
