Blatter to open Soccerex expo

Fifa president Sepp Blatter will open Soccerex in Sandton on November 26.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter will open Soccerex in Sandton on November 26.

Carlos Alberto "Tata Mamillions" Parreira, the Bafana Bafana coach, has been invited to officially open the exhibition halls.

Parreira will be joined by Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa and Barbara Creecy, the Gauteng MEC of sports, arts, culture and recreation.

Creecy said they will use the event to showcase South Africa's readiness to host the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup.

More than 5000 delegates involved in soccer and related business are expected to attend the event that South Africa will host until 2010.

The organisers announced yesterday that 300 exhibitors from across the globe have already signed up for the three events.

Speaking on the organisers' website, Blatter said: "The event has firmly established itself as a global convention dedicated to the professional football environment.

"It is a unique occasion for delegates as well as exhibitors to show products and services in support of another successful Fifa World Cup." - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
