The unwavering support of Bloemfontein Celtic's supporters has not gone unnoticed. South African Brewerieshas clinched a deal with the team that will see their loyalists attending Bafana Bafana matches free of charge.
The beer company, through its brand Castle Lager, clinched the deal with the management of Celtic.
The deal will see 2 000 Celtic supporters being transported to the Bafana Bafana home matches by the company, which will pay everything for them.
This starts with the Nelson Mandela Challenge where Bafana Bafana entertain the United States at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday.
The same number of Celtic supporters will be transported to Durban for an international friendly against Canada on November 20.
The beer company was impressed with the support Bafana Bafana enjoyed in Bloemfontein in the final of the Cosafa Castle Cup against Zambia.
Siwelele sa Masokolara, as Celtic's loyalists are widely known in football circles, sang specially coined Bafana Bafana songs and danced throughout that match and their backing was enough motivation for the team to lift the trophy at the event.
"The company will pay everything for the supporters, including buying them food on their way to the matches," Sello Nduna, Celtic's spokesman, told Sowetan yesterday.
"Our negotiations with the company started shortly after Bafana Bafana matches against Zambia and I was called to Johannesburg for discussions.
"Today we agreed to the deal as the management of the team and we are all looking forward to a healthy relationship with them.
"They told us that they chose Celtic's supporters because they feel that they are always vibrant during matches.
"We see this deal as good for the 2010 World Cup because it encourages people to attend matches," he said.
Attempts to solicit comment from Cambridge Mokanyane, the brand's marketing manager, drew a blank yesterday.
Nduna will meet their supporters at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium tomorrow to update them on the developments.
Masokolara deserve to be honoured for their continued support of their team, win or lose. They turn the stadium green and white whenever Celtic play.
