I would like to congratulate Etoile Sahel of Tunisia for winning the African Champions League against the much fancied Al-Ahly of Egypt.

Al-Ahly is an ageing side . It is also an ordinary team which has been extremely lucky. It showed against Etoile, when their luck finally ran out.

I have never been an Ahly fan for the simple reason that that they play a style of f ootball similar to that of West Germany of old - very little skill but hard work from each player. It is winning and effective football, but torture for watching fans.

I also believe that Ahly, like our South African big clubs, are probably overrated. They also never impress against the world's best clubs.
