A 35-year-old clerk is expected to appear in the Vanderbijlpark magistrate's court today for issuing a fraudulent car registration certificate. He was arrested on Friday morning.

Vaal Rand police spokesman Captain Veli Mcera said the man was nabbed by the Vaal organised crime unit, which had been investigating him.

Mcera said on June 9 the suspect issued a vehicle clearance certificate without seeing the car and was then paid a R500 bribe.

"We have learnt that he was not operating alone and are looking for more culprits. Anyone who might have been working with the suspect will be arrested," said Mcera.

The man has also been charged with corruption.
