For 20 years I have been battling to decode "legitimisation" of land ownership by the conquered and conquerors. I have now given up.
We in the Black Consciousness Movement, led by Azapo, have consistently been saying that land was the basis of the liberation struggle. We have always believed that it is a futile exercise to attain credible sovereignty and independence when our land and economy are owned and controlled by a minority, and foreigners.
We probably have one of the cheapest rights to citizenship in the world because it is very easy for any black or white foreigner to get citizenship. Our liberal constitution states that any foreigner with South African citizenship has land rights.
The appointment of Shadrack Gutto to advise on foreign land-ownership is completely misplaced and a waste of taxpayers money. Foreigners should not be allowed to own one inch of our land and we should not allow ourselves to be blackmailed by potential investors.
If foreigners want to contribute to our economy, they must do so under our terms and conditions. It is criminal for the conquered to buy land from the conquerors. Simply repossess and redistribute it to the rightful owners.
