Mpumalanga 2010 World Cup coordinator, Differ Mogale, will know today whether or not he will keep his position.

Mbombela municipality in Nelspruit will sit today and Mogale's future will top the agenda.

Mogale said the decision about his future was supposed to have taken place on Monday but was postponed to today.

Mogale was suspended two weeks ago on allegations that he contravened council regulations when he bought a piece of land for use for the 2010 World Cup stadium.

Municipal spokesman Joseph Ngala said at the time that Mogale was suspended for causing conflict between the municipality and the community of Matsafeni Trust, where the Mbombela 2010 World Cup Stadium will be built.

It is alleged that the land for the stadium was bought illegally from land claims' beneficiaries for only R1.

Mogale allegedly signed an agreement with the people of the area and told them that they would benefit from the stadium and from shopping centres that would be built on their land.

The council said Mogale did not have the authority to conclude deals.

Only the municipal manager had that power.

The municipality has since declared the sale null and void.

His suspension will expire on November 26 when he appears before a disciplinary hearing.

It is the third time that Mogale has been suspended since being appointed Mbombela 2010 coordinator.

Nelspruit is one of the hosts for the World Cup in 2010.
