Its official! Khumbuzo Ntshavheni is the new municipal manager of the Greater Ba-Phalaborwa municipality in Limpopo after she was appointed yesterday.

The appointment of the 32-year-old Ntshavheni was confirmed by the Speaker in the council of the beleaguered municipality, David Maake, who doubles up as the deputy secretary-general of the ANC in the region.

Ntshavheni worked as spokesman for former Limpopo premier Ngoako Ramathlodi and is currently a member of the executive committee of the provincial ANCYL.

Attempts to solicit comment from Ntshavheni, who is rumoured to be studying in Canada, drew a blank yesterday.

Her organisation has, however, quashed the rumours saying she was in the country and ready to resume work.

Ntshavheni was appointed yesterday at the council sitting in Namakgale in Phalaborwa.

Her appointment comes a year after Isaih Nyathi left the position high and dry as manager in December last year.

Ntshavheni competed for the position with two other ANC top officials in the province, Cyril Monyela and Makoma Rasekgala.

Monyela works as senior manager in the department of local government and housing, while Rasekgala is a member of the executive committee of Mopani District municipality in Limpopo.

Ntshavheni's appointment was supported by the municipal mayor and members of the executive committee.
